Pink & Rose Gold Princess Cake Smash | Cape Town Cake Smash Photographer | Michelle Koekemoer Photography

Little Moneoa is such a lively little girl, she gave us a good workout during her cake smash session by playing fetch as she crawled all over the place. And just like a real princess she kept things classy by smashing her cake without getting to much of the sugary goodness on her.

Oh, and can we please get a round of applause for MOM, how beautiful is that dress!?

For all our cake smash sessions, parents can select any theme or colour scheme they want. When little Ndalo’s parents asked for yellow and pink, I decided to do something a little more than just bunting and balloons. I decided on a Busy Bee theme and I have to admit I simply LOOOOOVE the handmade backdrop we made for her.

Can you believe that Ndalo was our first girl in the studio for this year! Here is to many more little girls …

With most of our cake smash sessions, the little ones need some encouragement to dig into the cake. Not little Emilio – he was a cake smash pro! He wend from a perfectly clean to buy to a human cake in a matter of minutes – there was icing everywhere. Happy Birthday Emilio, it was so much fun having you in the studio!

Little Callum, he reserved all his smiles for the photos with his Mom. For the rest of the cake smash he was very serious and focussed but very cute! When I brought out the aviator hat, Mom wasn’t expecting it to stay on for more than a minute but he surprised us by keeping it on until right to the end.

When Miriam asked for a white, yellow and red cake smash, the first thing that popped into my head was a Winnie the Pooh theme so we created a custom backdrop (beehive and all) for little Sean. He did such a great job smashing that cake, and those facial expressions and smiles are enough to melt any heart!

When it come to themes for cake smash sessions for boys, Mickey Mouse is always a very popular choice. And little Enkosi definitely made for one very cute mouse. The funniest moment during the session was when he had enough of the bowtie around his neck and simply removed before he continued smashing his cake.

I love photographing toddlers. At this age, you get nothing but honest reactions and their personalities really shine. Little Zion is one very busy boy, we had to work hard at getting him to sit relatively still for the portrait images but once he had a cake in front of him he had something to do – and boy did he do it WELL. All of us left the studio with blue icing after this cake smash.

The one thing I will always remember about little Nthando is how he can go from being very serious to super silly and back to serious in seconds. It’s very cute and certainly kept me on my toes!

Enjoy some of our favourite photos from his recent cake smash.

It’s hard to believe that we are almost in the middle of January – most parents are already back at work and this week the schools start. 2020 could not have started in a better way for us – just look at this adorable little Minion that was in the studio for his cake smash over the weekend. He wasn’t impressed with the bubble bath but he did a great job smashing his cake!

Nailah came to visit us for her cake smash recently – and she looked like a real little African Princess in her beautiful outfit. And let’s not forget Mom and Dad looking equally regall …
